Bring a standard you love, a solo you’re puzzling over, or a place where your playing feels stuck. We might compare two voicings, hear what each changes, then use them in a tune. Or build a solo from a short musical idea instead of running through scales. Theory earns its place by helping you hear and play differently.

Is this a good fit?
You don’t have to be a jazz player already. Returning after years away? We can start with the music you remember and build from there. Already playing gigs or studying seriously? Bring the harmonic, rhythmic, or ensemble challenges you want to work through. Beginners are welcome, too.
The experience behind the lesson
I studied Piano Performance with a Jazz Emphasis at UT Austin. My work in jazz ensembles and accompanying singers brings another question into the lesson: how does what you play help the whole band sound good?
