I’m Austin Kimble, a pianist, music director, educator, and arranger based in Austin, Texas. I help musicians turn what they hear and imagine into something they can do.

My musical life moves between jazz, musical theatre, ensemble playing, and teaching. Those settings ask for more than getting the notes right: listening, responding, understanding the style, and making choices that serve the music.

Piano and jazz piano are at the heart of my work, with particular experience in trumpet, voice, and audition coaching. I also welcome musicians on other instruments and at all experience levels. We can get specific about a chord voicing or a technical problem, then step back and ask what you want the phrase, song, or performance to communicate.

I’ve taught online regularly for years, including a weekly student relationship that has continued since the pandemic. A good lesson depends on close listening, clear demonstrations, and a useful next step. That work can happen across a room or across time zones.

Locally, I teach at my South Austin home studio on an acoustic Chickering grand piano. Online, I work with pianists, trumpet players, singers, and other instrumentalists wherever schedules allow.
